Thoughts on Room 18
We have been thinking a lot lately about how to redesign the classroom for the needs of today’s learners. We looked at the new room concepts that were recommended by the Scarsdale High School architecture students. Then we commented on them. The question we have to ask ourselves is what type of room environment will help us best with our learning? What changes can we make right away to Room 18 that you think will make the biggest difference for you as a learner (such as adding a type of furniture, writing surfaces, making learning nooks, etc)?
We could put cozy chairs in the corner of a room and get a cozy corner, or we could take furniture (chairs, tables, desks, etc) and make it a classroom were a lot of people (students) could sit. and maybe add a special table with drawers and make that the storage.

I think we can also add a whiteboard on wheels that can be moved around the classroom.
We could have something like a whiteboard that can move around the room and can also move around for privacy too. Also we can start off with making this room more colorful.
A cozy corner, maybe the ever block system, hanging hammocks, new desks and maybe new chairs.
And NO “SMART” BOARD!!!
I think we could get a chrome book charging place beside the cart, (that plugs in to the wall), because if your computer dies you can charge while you work. Like if your at a lesson and your computer dies you can bring the charger with you. (With teachers permission).
I think a slide is odd in a classroom but I really do like the group four idea. The everblock system is great. BUT NO SMARTBOARDS

I think that if there was a cozy rug children could get focused.
I think that I would really like a whiteboard surface on the desks. I also think that we should have a softer rug for sitting on when we go on the floor.
I think what you can change right away is the floor. If you add a rug it will be a much better room. I remember the other kids did a sand project and got the floor all messy. So if we have a rug, then we don’t have to sit on the sandy floor. You also can also add some more chairs and tables so then the kids will be able to sit down if we don’t have a rug. And also if we have chairs and tables, the kids will be able to do their own work.
We also can get a “smarter” board cause this board won’t orient.
The room is very drab so make it fun! bean bag chairs stuff like that
I think that colorful things don’t exactly pull you away from learning but it is a very fun idea to have. Color seems to be one of the best ideas to have when it comes to fun AND learning. Also, bean- bags seem good because it is comfortable and makes your bottom a lot more comfortable.

And maybe get a smart TV instead of smart boards, and take the projector away.
I think that there should be a cozy corner in room 18, maybe a few bean bags, and hanging hammocks and maybe paint the walls, and I think that whiteboard surface on desks would be nice also.
I feel like we should have something like moving tables/desks or a nice space to relax and read. I would like a better smart board. And finally I would like whiteboards as the surface of the desks.
Yeah the floor is really sandy so eian I agree on the floor thing
I think that a bean bag chair would be good in the class room in a small corner so kids can sit in a comfortable chair and focus on their work and i think a rug would be good to sit down on to work
I think you need like a privet aria to werk ore relax In the sper time you have if you are dun whith your werck or ned a brack or werk with a friend and it wold be cost and cunfy. also no smart bord because you cant move it. Insted of a smart bord you can get a apel teve on weels so you can move it if you need more space.
Yeah the floor is very sandy so I agree with Eian
I think that a place where you can learn but have FUN at the same time. I would also like a place to just relax and a place to work and I would like a white board surface on the desk. It would also be nice to have bean-bags or a low chair to sit in when you are at the rug.

I think that it would be a good idea to put in a desk covered with a white board so we wouldn’t have to use as much paper. It would also be nice if we could have a chrome book charger in our desk so the chargers in the cart wouldn’t get mixed up, and so we would be able to have our own chargers to be responsible of.
I would rather have whiteboards than smartboards.
First of all clean the floor; it is very dirty. Also put desks and chairs or tables. Only white boards; not “smart” boards because other wise there is too much screens to look at.
I think that some of the thing we might put in are unnecessary like lava lamp and the slide.
For an example a lot of people will go to room 18 just so they could go down the slide.
Though there are some things about it that I like about the things that are possible too go in the new room like the everblocks it will increase creativity when we are making or re-making our desks. I also like the fact that we might re-place the “smart” board.
I also like the white-board-on-desk idea so I think if we combine the everblocks and the white board idea
Well I think we could start off with some furniture because we could build that without having to order it. We could start off by making tables, chairs and desks. I was wondering why did they have to buy desks, couldn’t they just build them.
I would like to follow up my last post by saying I just learned we are most likely to replace smart boards with movable flat screen t.v.s
maybe we should switch the smartboard with a better thing since on 2/1/17 the smartboard shut of several times.
If you paint the room all different colors it can look more like a fun themed classroom, because nobody wants a plain white classroom. Kids would enjoy more of a colorful classroom.
I think if you get a fold up table and some white board paint, then you put the paint on the table, it would be good. I think it wouldn’t cost too much money and you could use the paint again and again other then getting tables with white board already on the because it would cost more money. Also, you could just paint a corner as a white board.
The slide seems to fun but it is a good way to down from a loft if there is a loft. But it should be only for going down the loft not for fun.
I think what will make the biggest difference is the whiteboard desks because you are wasting paper and pensell but when you have whiteboard you just nead a pen.
