Zoo Debate Refltion

Have you ever wanted to have a debate with people? I have wanted to since when I was five I saw my brother starting to debate. We did zoo debates on if zoos should be allowed or not. This is my debate experience.

The argument I was assigned was the side of keeping zoos even though I didn’t want to be on that side. Ishan was my partner, Steve and Troy were on the opposing side. It was hard looking for evidence when you didn’t like the side you were assigned. I didn’t like the idea of animals in cages because they are alive too. But I found evidence my reason was it helped animals stay alive and keep species from going extinct. Every year about 200-2000 species go extinct without zoos; we would be making it worse. We also did scientific research while Troy did heart disease and Steve did how animals in zoos get mental issues. That is it for the first argument about zoos.

The second debate went more smoothly than the first because it was on the side I believed in which made me say it more naturally and with more meaning. I was with Ishan again. We thought of how most zoos are profit only zoos. Ishan did how they suffer mentally and physically while Troy and Steve did how zoos are needed for research and preventing extinction. This time we were recorded by Ms Edwards and that’s how it went for our second debate.

In conclusion it was fun and it was a good experience I had with doing debate, but let me ask you something: do you want to debate if you could because I would. I hope you do it because it was a good experience I had.
