Lately in Tech class we have been learning about wood. We have been learning about what you can make out of wood and about trees in general. One thing we learned about tress was that we learned that trees get a new ring ( wich you can see if you cut the tree open) every growing season. To me the most interesting thing that we have learned in tech this year has been harvesting the trees for there wood. We learned the different ways you can cut a tree, and today we were required to watch a video about how people you used to harvest trees 100 years ago. I found this video very interesting. I learned that people used many tools to take down these enormous trees. These tools include axes, saws, and more. The teqnique that seemed to be used the most often was that they would make a hole in the tree that goes all the way to the other side with there axes. Then they would place an enormous saw in the whole. They would then saw the tree until it came down. I find this very intresting!

This year there have been some setbacks. With Covid being a factor we can only go to school twice a week and we are limited to what we can do in tech this year, even when we are in the classroom. As a result we cant do our normal project where we make a nice looking box. Instead, in my opinion we are making something even better. We are making a small rectangular box where you can slide of the top, but here is where it gets interesting. When you open the box, a creepy critter flies out at you! In other words we are making a mini jack in the box. I think that I am going to have a lot of fun with this project!
