One day I was playing on many xbox and I started to wonder how when I press a button on the controller, the xbox some how knows, and it made me wonder that it must be sender signals to the console. That made me think that maybe if something was in the way of the signal, it could pick up the signal and it could fry the console or the device that intercepted it.
Today in class we watched a movie about batteries. We learned that lithium batteries are very flammable and we watched different people make new and better batteries, the video also told us new ways people are storing energy we how electric grids work.
For our project last week we had to make a CAM and I thought it was quit hard to make because I kept messing up while I was making it and glueing. Mine didn’t even work in the end and I glued the top on the wrong side.
For our project this week we made a catapult and I thought it would be really hard to build it but I ended up building the easier one, when I was watching the tutorial video it was launching really far. I don’t know why but when I tried to launch mine it barely went 5 inches and when I tried to fix it didn’t work and I ended up breaking it and I couldn’t fix it.
Today I made a complete circuit. I liked making this circuit more than the other one because this one look a cooler and it was fun to make. The only bad thing about it is having to cut and strip a bunch of wires. Because it hurts my fingers to have to hold it like that and it kept slipping out of my hand.
Today I wired a bread board, a bread board is a board where you can connect a circuit to make something light up, I made an LED light, light up. What I did was I connected the light to the board then I connected the battery to the board last I put all the wires together so that the circuit connected.
Today we had a project where we had to cut wires to a specific length. I did not think the cutting part was very hard because all we had to do was cut the wire, but stripping the wire was really really hard. This was true because had to customize the wire cutters so that we wouldn’t just cut the wire. Stripping the wires was hard because the wire kept slipping out of my hand.
In this project we had to make a cube, with trusses to help support the weight out of marshmallows and toothpicks and that had to hold a number of books/magazines. I made my project and then I wanted to test so I started with one magazine, but there was a problem I kept trying and trying, but I couldn’t get the cube to stay up so that experiment was not successful.
For technology class we made I beams and we also made our own custom made beam. For my I beam it was able to successfully hold 5 food cans. For my custom beam I added triangles for extra support, because triangles are the strongest shape and that beam was able to successfully hold 5 food cans as well. The regular I beam seemed like it was struggling to hold the weight on the other hand my custom beam did not seem like was struggling.
I have many projects I want to do in class but, some I really want to do are.
I want to try and build something like a boat that can float in water. That move around the water with a motor, without sinking.
Another thing a want to make is a car out of wood that has wheels that can drive, with an engine. I would also like to make a bridge that goes over water with falling. That car can go over, and the boat can go under.
