The Universe, The Story

I’ve always loved the universe. From the first stars to alpha centaur i! I’ve loved it! That’s why I want to tell the universe’s story (focusing on earth)!  From start to finish!

Part 1: KABOOM!

There was nothing. No light. No time. No space!!! All that there was was a tiny point! Then for some reason that we don’t know, that tiny point went KABOOM! This was a period called inflation. The universe doubled its size ninety times! Then the “inflation” stopped. There was a huge cloud of dust. That was just one second. So what happened the next hour?

You might imagine the stars being created, big explosions and stuff like that. But none of that was happening. You see, the universe is 13.8 billion years old. Nothing much happened for the first three billion. Then some of that dust began to cluster together. It got denser and hotter until eventually, the first star forms.

Part 2: The Milky Way!

For hundreds of millions of years, this process continues. More and more stars form, and stars die. Then, eventually, the stars begin to clutter together. Why? They are drawn by their own gravitational pulls. Billions of stars cluster, slowly turning into a sea of white. Like never before, brilliant light shines through the universe. The light gets even brighter. Mord stars gather! Eventually you get galaxies. And guess what? One of these galaxies is the Milky Way (our galaxy).

Part 3: The Sun Forms!

Inside the Milky Way, five billion years later, a star was forming. A tiny star, sucking in gas from a cloud. The star got denser each day. It also got bigger. Eventually there was nothing left of the cloud, besides a lot of debris. The sun, millions of the years in the making, was ready for planets!

Part 4: The Planets Appear!

So, how did the planets form? Well, remember the debris. It’s just a bunch of space rocks, right? Well, not for long. As the debris rammed into each other, the pieces got bigger and bigger. Eventually they got big enough to become proto-planets. There were hundreds of them. Why do we only have less than ten planets today, though?

Well, most of those proto-planets didn’t survive. The flew into the sun, rammed into to one another, flew into the sun, and much more. The survivors? They are the planets we see today!

Part 5: The Future!

Well, we don’t know everything about what will happen, but we do know some things that will happen. For example, the sun is going to blow up. Not kidding. It will stop atomic fusion (fusing atom together)! Eventually, it will get so big that it will even engulf the earth! Then, it will let off its outer layer, and become a small type of dead star, called a white dwarf.

We also know, that the Milky Way, is on a collision course with another galaxy. Will we be harmed? Probably not! But, we will get a light show that lasts for thousands of years!

However, despite knowing all of this, we really don’t know what the future holds. Luckily, there are great scientists studying our universe every day! So, do you want to help study the universe?
