Capstone Blog 3 ( Answering Your Main Inquiry Question and Working on Final Product)

A few months ago my teacher assigned me a capstone project. I instantly knew what I wanted to do. So I started doing research. Now, I am here almost memorizing my whole presentation.  I’m ready for my presentation but  I want to reflect on my project and tell you my capstone story.

Like I said before, I knew what I wanted to do.  So I gotta work instantly. I started doing research but before long I realized I only had 700 words of research in my document. I needed 1300 words so I went to work fast.  I was able to write enough to cover the amount.  Therefore I was ready to create my script.

I started my essay confidently as I knew I had enough research. It was a little hard to find the right words at times,  I had to do a lot of editing and revision.  That was okay with me.   When I was done with my script, I spent time editing it.

When creating my script, I was ready and knew I was at the final step.  I knew that it would not be easy.  It was harder than I thought it would be.  I did not know but  I had to cut out some of my essays.  It is like creating a whole other script. I was shocked and when I was done, I wanted to quit. Then later when I was creating my slides, I realized I have to move stuff around. When I was timing myself, I would get different results every time. This was a problem because I had to find the estimate of my times.

Now,  I am done and get to do my slides personally.  This was the easiest part because I already had an idea. I knew what I was going to do. All I had to do was add borders and videos and I had NO problem. So then came the hardest part…

The hardest part was memorizing my script.  If you ask anyone else in my class,  they will probably say that was hard for them too. It was the hardest part because personally, I had a lot of information. This information needed to be explained. Also, I am focusing so much on memorizing that when I move to the next slides I would fidget.  When I started to fidget it made it hard for people to hear me. I have worked on being louder and speaking directly to my audience.

Overall I think this was a really fun unit that I actually enjoyed.  I enjoyed this unit because I was able to research something that I actually like. Although there were challenges, that is how it goes with any project. Overall this was a great unit and I can’t wait to do more research at the Middle School.

Capstone Blog 2 Conducting and getting an Interview

I am in 5th grade and I am assigned to do a capstone project my teacher said that to get information kids will need to do an interview. I thought it will be impossible but I found a person here’s how.

When thinking of who I was going to interview I first thought to myself of a person who was at the game as the chances were low for a player to respond. My mom wanted me to risk it and ask a player even with a low chance of him responding. I sent him a call and hoped he would respond. Over time of waiting, I thought he would not get back Until I got a call it was from Massachusetts and that is where he lives.  I was instantly excited and I heard Mike Eruzione on the other side of the phone.

When conducting the interview I asked for zoom but he couldn’t that did not stop me I was excited to do it over the phone. The interview met my expectations and was able to get a lot of research on behind-the-scenes it was great I interviewed a person like him and it helped out a lot in the long run as it just makes it so much better.

In all, I am ready for the future as I know it will be great. I am so happy I did this interview because it will help a lot.

Capstone Blog 1 Figuring out my Main Inquiry Question

About 2 weeks ago, my teacher Mrs. Edwards assigned a capstone project. A capstone is a research topic that you get to choose to learn more about and a way to end off your elementary school Career. I was excited and knew what I was going to do. I quickly thought and knew the Miracle on Ice as I knew it would be a good one so I started planning.

I chose to do it on Miracle on Ice because I was recently there and had a lot of knowledge about it this is why I chose it. But my goal was to learn more I did not know who I was going to interview. But I decided to call the captain with a low chance of him responding. I was lucky he responded and planned my interview.

When going through my main question it was hard my teacher explained to us a 4 and a 0 4 being the best so I tried. When turning in my question I only got a 3. That would not stop me as I wanted a 4, but then I got some help and was able to come up with a good question that I am going to stick with. I was excited to start making good sub-questions.

When making sub-questions I did not think it will be that hard because they only had to be a little research question but I was wrong I was struggling with the third one. So again I went to the teacher and got the help I needed then I was able to create every sub-question I needed, and I am ready for the future of capstone.

So far Capstone has been really fun and I can not wait for the future. It feels like I just started but I already have so much information. I am ready for the journey. It is going to be a good one.

Immigration Second Blog

A long time ago my teacher assigned me an immigration assignment to complete and now we hear April 6, 2022,2 and I am pretty much done so now I will give you a summary of my immigration unit.

First, I had to come up with a person to do it. then I found just the guy. Then I saw my first step was to make 15-20 highly detailed questions to ask the person I was doing this unit on this took about 3 days but I eventually had them and booked my interview.

This interview was great I had asked 15 questions and then got the answers but this kept me thinking I kept asking things that could make my immigration video better and more detailed I ended up doing just that and had a good 30-minute interview.

That recent step was hard but I had to move on knowing that I am doing the script made me feel better because I knew I was almost done I put together a script about 3 times as they kept making better script templates eventually I had all I wanted to talk about. Sooner or later I was ready to create my video.

When I started my video I had to brainstorm ideas to know what to do at first I was lazy did not know what I wanted to do and even wanted to quit but I couldn’t. On the second day, I picked it up getting 2 minutes 30 seconds in, and even got a warning box saying try to keep your presentation below 30 slides. I knew I was doing something good because I had a lot of writing so I just had to keep that same energy and don’t let anyone stop me.

First Blog for Immigration

Hi,  I’m Zach, about 3 weeks ago my teacher assigned me an immigration project. She gave us clear instructions that we had to follow. They were to pick a person who IMMIGRATED and interview them. I was excited that I got to do this but deep down I had NO one to do it on, that was a problem. I kept asking my mom and dad to tell me if they had anyone but they did not have anyone. Until… I was in the car one day and my dad said: “wait stop pause I know someone”. Something was happening then he said, “I have a whole crew”. I said “what”. He said” yeah my workers” I knew but did not mention it. Many of his workers have immigrated.  Then he said later, ” I have a guy”. I said, “who will I interview”.  He said, “you will interview Eddy”.   Eddy immigrated from Mexico.  I was excited to start.  Now I was ready for my interview. On the day of the interview, I got myself water and was ready for a fascinating story.  I started by asking all my questions that were cool it took about 10 minutes but there were more questions I wanted him to elaborate on. After hearing him elaborate I was in complete shock hie story was awesome and the elaboration took 20 minutes almost double the actual interview question. Man, you could learn a lot in a day after this interview I learned so much it gave me a lot to think about and put into my adobe video.

Colin Kaepernick Constutution Project

Why did Colin Kaepernick knee and what where the side effects to doing it.

In our Classes Constitution unit, I learned how the government runs in the United States of America.  The Bill of Rights taught be about my rights as a citizen of the United States of America.  Colin Kaernick role model for more than just sport.  He is an American activist for social change as well.  He was allowed to protest and stand up for what he believed in because of the first amendment in the Bill of Rights.  I chose to write about Colin Kaepernick because he is a great role model and likes sport and so do I.

During this  project, I spent time doing research and that Colin Kaepernick is more than great hair.  I used the Constitution planner that my teacher gave to structure my project.  I spent two weeks researching my topic.  I used Wikipedia, NFL news, Seattle News, Chicago tribune and the Sports News site.   I found writing the essay horrible because it took too long to create. But when it came time to write my script, it was a lot easier because I already a structure from my essay.   I used the structure of my essay to fit the puzzle pieces together a strong script and an even stronger Screen cast.

During my research I had to look across many different websites. One website I looked at was  Wikipedia this website helped me find the basics and the simple stuff I needed to learn about Colin Kaepernick. Another website I use was Chicago tribune this was a great website and helped me learn about how other athletes and how they shoes awareness. There where so many great websites but I was only able to use 3 so the last website I chose was The buffalo post this helped me right about the buffalo bill fans and how they where against Colin Kaepernick’s decision.

When I was doing my essay it was very hard. I was not able to think on what to include and what not to. I had to take a while to come up with a essay  and come up with the best and most informational text on Colin Kaepernick. The good part was the essay gave me all I needed to revise for the script.

I was happy that I was able to get partner feedback it was so great because it helped me learn what I good improve and what was good. The easiest part was the intro and conclusion because it was the shortest body parts, the hardest though was the middle body paragraph it was hard because it needed a lot of information. and was challenging but I was able to come up with the perfect script in the end.

When i was doing my slideshow it was fun I got to do pictures and backgrounds for my title slide I did cool black contrast to stick out in the letter on the title slide and did colors of Colin Kaepernick’s team.when I was dong my pictures I was looking for to things they where Large photos and that they where not fuzzy theses are to big elements that I needed so my readers would stay interested

During my screen cast it was hard and tough I needed the percent area percent sound and perfect speaking voice It was hard it took me many attempts and I did not get it done until the last day after 20 recording I got a good one and it sounded great the pictures looked good and I was ready to share

The hardest part about this project was the body paragraph and essay it was so hard to come up with.My favorite parts about this unit was the screen cast because in the long run it all payed off.I learned that sports players can use there platforms to show awareness around the would
