Kindness Matters – Poetry

On the padlet below, think about what Kindness Means to You and post your thoughts. We may try to write a Kindness Poem as a class based on what you write.

The video below goes into the reproductive parts of a plant and pollination. Watch it below and then access the padlet to post the ideas and information that you have learned.

Poetry

The next few weeks we will be exploring poetry.  Take a look at the links below and read as many poems as you can this week.  In your writing notebook write down what you notice about the poems you read.  Do they have rhythm, alliteration, rhyming, onomatopoeia, personification, similes or metaphors? Are the poems narratives, lyrical, funny or free verse?

The Scarsdale School District has purchased a blogging platform to create a common base of knowledge and writing experiences for students, in line with the Teachers College Reading & Writing Project curriculum.  Students will begin to develop digital literacy skills as well as learn to curate their own portfolio as they grow.

Here at Heathcote we have introduced blogging to all students across the 3rd grade. The third grade team spoke about the curriculum connections, student engagement, and enriched activities across all content areas. Mr. Casal provided the technical background and importance of introduce blogging in the elementary environment.
