This read aloud is the second in a series of posts about the book Wonder

A precept is a rule about a really important thing. My precept is, Make your own path, don’t follow any one elses.

I am feeling that Aggie use to feel good about school but when his mom came into his room, he stated feeling worse. I think that Aggie asked his mom the way he looked because he was thinking back at the day at school and how Julien is mean to him and about the mean comment but I don’t think that Aggie wants to tell his parents about it because he likes school and he does not want his mom taking him out of school. I think that Aggie likes Summer because they talk at lunch together and most people don’t like Aggie so I think that Aggie likes Summer because she was being nice to him even though every one else does not like Aggie. I think that Summer will be a good charactor in the book because no one is really nice to Aggie but when Summer came over, she seemed as if she wanted to be friends with Aggie.😀

Plant Blog Post #3

This is our third blog post on plants. We started cross pollinating our plants. Pollination is so the plants get fertilized and seeds can form in the plant. To pollinate our plants we used a q – tip. With the q – tip we touched a pistol. Then we touched a pistol of another plant so it fertilizes the plant. Now since we pollinated the plant seed pods are starting to form. Seed pods have tiny seeds in it so that people can plant new plants with the seeds. On seed pods there is a green coding thing that keeps the seeds from blowing away. Our plant has a itsy bitsy seed pod but you can’t really see it.

Now the flowers on our plants are dying out. That means seed pods are going to form! Also on our manipulated plant there are buds that are dying and they are pink and we think it is because instead of water we are using red food coloring. On the controlled it is green because we did not change anything. The highest height is around 14 cm!

I think that our plants will form bigger seed pods and if you meger them they will be 3 – 4 cm high. because ours are really small. I also think that next week the plants will be about 15 cm. Also that the seed pods might turn a little pink since the buds are pink.

Plants #2

This is our second blog post about plants. We have been doing this for about 13 days. A lot has changed. Now here is some information on the controlled quad. At first the plant that we are growing was a itsy bitsy plant. Now our plant that was itsy bitsy is up to 13 cm! On the second day the plant grew up to 6 cm. On the fourth day the plants really sprung up! The highest was 10 cm! The color of our controlled plant is light green. Two plants are growing in each sell and there are four sells. That means we are growing 8 plants in each quad! They grow about one cm every two days. Now since the plants are so high they got buds! The buds recently turned to bright yellow flowers!

Now here is some information on the manipulated quad. The color of the manipulated is a little pink and you might be wondering why. Well, it is a speck of pink because to manipulate our plant we added red food coloring and because we mixed the food coloring together, on the plant it turned pink. The manipulated quad is also about 13 cm high. Now on the 13th day of our manipulated plant bright yellow flowers are lying on top of our plant and our manipulated plant has flowers to so right now I don’t think the red food coloring water is affecting our plant. There is something in the flower called the pistil. The pistil is something in the plant that pollinats the plant.

At first our plants were drupy so Mrs. DeGrazia put a stick through the plants and now it is holding upbecause there is a clear thing that holds the plant to the stick. Our plants are turning out the way they are because we took good care of it and we want to find out what will happen next and that will be soon!

Maglev Blog Post #3

For our first desine we failed and here’s what we did. We put 6 disc magnets on each side of the track and 12 all together. We had to make sure that all of it was lined up though because The magnets have to be lined up to repel. We also made it all facing North. For our vehical we got 5 disc magnets all together and 4 in the corners. Four the fifth we put it in the middle of the vehicle. We also put them all facing North so that it repels with the track.

Our problem that we had was our vical kept wobbling. The goal was to make it go safe and efficiently across the track and not wobble. What we did to revise it was we used strip magnets instead of disc magnets so all the magnets are lined up. We put one strip magnet on each side of the vehicle and 3 strip magnets on each side of the track because more magnets on the bottom, the hire it goes. We did not put it on the vehicle because the more magnets on the top, the lower it goes.

Our final desine was 3 strip magnets on each side of the track and 1 strip magnet on each side of the vehicle. Our design worked because all of the magnets were lined up so it repels. Also what made it work was all the magnets were north to each other so that also made it repel because like poles repel and opposite poles attract. Also if the magnets are not lined up then the train will wobble and won’t levitait.

How I felt about this is good because we all worked together and we all did the same amount of work on the train and we put everyone’s ideas into the train and one person did not take over the whole train and one person did not tell us what to do.

At the end of the whole thing we put marbles on our train. We wanted to see how many we could fit, 1…2…3 and so on all the way up to 40! It was fun and our group made a succesful maglev train.

My Expert Book – All About Chanukah

I am now a published author! The book took hard work to make. I included good writing and good text features like captions or stories. We also learned transitions like for example or because. I used expert words so people understand the words in the story. I learned also how to use text feachers like captions. I could not just tell facts facts facts, you have to have ideas. I had to put my chapters in a order that made sence. I chose the topic of Chanukah because I celebrate the holiday and I figured why not write about it. The book was hard to put together but it became great in the end. I was excited to have finished the book. I learned not to use the word I or me because it is not about you, your book is about the topic it is about. Now I really understand how to write an expert book. Finding which topic to do was hard but I put in hard work. This book took a while to make but when it all comes together it is amazing. Adding pictures was also a hard part of the book. I need to find pictures that fit just right with my topic. It took two months to finish the book . At the beginning I did not know what I was going to write. It all worked out to become a really good book in the end of our lessons though!

Reflection on Persuasive Writing Experience

My persuasive speech is that cars should not drive on Halloween night. What I learned about persuasive is not to have a reporter’s voice, talk to your audience. I also learned to write in paragraphs or indent but not to keep writing with none of that. Techniques that I used was a problem /solution.

How I felt about my video is I needed to speak louder. I should not of looked up because I knew I would lose my spot. Once I was finished I was a little disappointed but a little happy because I tried my best. I did talk to my audience. “You might be wondering.” I could of spoken louder so everyone can hear me. Also to speak more clearly.

Hollywood

I raced out of the car and to a big tower as I said, “Hollywood is huge!”

I was so happy to be there.

There were stars all over the floor which is named the Walk of Fame. People gathered around and took pictures of the Walk of Fame.

The stars had famous actors names on them. My friend and I took a picture with the Michael Jackson star. I said, “How about we take a picture with this one? “ It was the person who played Simba in the “Lion King.”

I suddenly noticed that each star was pink on the inside, white on the outside, a little white on the inside, and some gold on the inside too.

Stars were everywhere! I could not believe it . Brightness came as we walked on all the stars.

I said, “How many stars are there in Hollywood?” ”Wow!” I saw one thousand of them! I heard myself walk as we made our way to the stores. I could not believe my eyes. They were filled with sparkle and glory from the stars!!

I stepped on them going to restaurants, walking around and going to parks.In the Walk of Fame everywhere we went stars, stars ,stars!

After we ate we had to go to the car. Still stars, stars stars because we were in the Walk of Fame. Just so many stars as we sadly made our way to the car. I did not want to leave.

As we drove away I looked behind my shoulder until the sight was gone.
