Friday April 3rd – 3L Work

Wow! I love hearing your beautiful poetry and adorable voices sharing your poetry on seesaw. Your heart maps are melting my heart! The colors, the people, the places and the many things you hold dear to your heart are all so beautiful! Thank you for sharing!!

Heathcote Herald: Fatty Bird!

Today is Heathcote Spirit Day! Wear your Heathcote Colors!

Wear your best Heathcote spirit wear today and dance to your favorite song! We may not be able to celebrate together but we can in spirit!

A little happiness to brighten your day! Hope you enjoy this video that we all made for you! Miss you so very much!

I’ll see you at our small group sessions today. I will share the link with you prior to your session. Please be patient as I am doing a couple of groups today and may be running a bit late. Each session is a half hour. Please have your reading passages printed out and a highlighter and pencil ready to go. Can’t wait to see you!

I hope you all had a wonderful experience seeing your special area teachers. I spoke with them and they were thrilled to see all of your smiling faces! Apologies for the challenge with the links.

Below is our link for the question padlet. Feel free to post any questions you may have!

Question Padlet

Remember to plan out your day. Do an assignment. Take a mental break (go outdoors, listen to music, play a board game – whatever you need.) Then come back and tackle another assignment. That seems to be the best approach and one where you can get the most out of your day!

Read for 30 minutes of an independent book!

Mrs. Sorenson wanted us to remind you about all the reading opportunities (Reading Materials) she has on her E-Learning page. Please remember on the Library Databases you can read ebooks from the library’s catalog.

Poetry Lesson #4

Notice how line breaks are purposeful and meant to draw your attention to certain words and force you to pause in your reading. As you look through poetry and even write your own, note how line breaks you see or line breaks you create help the reader focus on the important ideas, words or patterns in your poetry. Grab a pencil, record some poetry and then share what you have written on seesaw! I can’t wait to read it!

Math

Mrs. Boyer has shared with us a review of Composite Figures! Watch the video to be reminded of the strategy.

Composite Figure Practice Slides

Copy and paste the slides from the link above to your E-Learning Slideshow. Take a screenshot of the slides and upload them to seesaw so you can talk over them and explain your thinking.  I can’t wait to hear your work! Good luck 3L!

Social Studies: Document Analysis

A first hand account is when someone who lives in a particular time writes about his/her own experience of an event. Some examples may be diaries, telegrams or letters. Remember that many people attending the same event, may retell the event differently from another person’s experience of that exact same event. Therefore, listening to and reading about the same event from many different sources helps us to understand history more fully!

Below is a video of a document being analyzed. Watch the video and then the link below is for you to analyze your own document. Add those slides to your E-Learning Slideshow.

Document Analysis – Student Work

You should now be finished with your Cultural Universals Slideshow! I’ll be looking through them and making suggestions or corrections as needed.

Science-  INTRO TO WEATHER

Use one of the weather links below to check your local weather forecast. Do you see some of the features mentioned in the videos from yesterday?  How does that compare to the weather in places around the country? Choose two US Cities to quickly compare to Scarsdale. Write a few sentences telling what you noticed. Take a picture, label weather, date and put under science.

Optional Coloring

Relax, unwind and color away! A great stress reliever for me is to take out a coloring page and enjoy some quiet time to myself!
