Poetry for Heathcote Art & Poetry Festival

You should choose a poem of your creation that you would like to share and present on Heathcote’s Virtual Art and Poetry Festival. Once you have chosen a poem, you are to create a “Google Drawing” in your “Writing Folder” on your drive. You can insert pictures, drawings and other creative and colorful options that relate to the poem’s meaning and include their poem in a google shape of your choosing. Most importantly, your writing MUST be readable – meaning color and font choice should be carefully chosen. This assignment is due Tomorrow Friday April 24th. Poems will be then inserted onto our class padlets by Tuesday April 28th.

Today, poets, your job is to select your favorite poem from the last few weeks of our poetry unit. Pick one that you are proud of and want to share for our Heathcote Virtual Art and Poetry Festival. Watch the video, and create your own Google Drawing in your Writing folder of your Drive to publish your poem.

You have both today and tomorrow to create your drawing. Please be sure that your spelling and punctuation are correct. Include your first name or your initials only.

Math: Adding and Subtracting Compound Units

Today we will continue to look at compound units kg and g.  You will learn a few strategies to help you add mass in kg and g or subtract g from k.  Please look closely at the different strategies mentioned in the video and decide which method works best for you.

NOTE: If regrouping while subtracting is difficult for you, please continue to practice this skill separately. Maybe practice subtraction problems without the units ahead of time. For ex, 127-38 or 456- 76. It is important to understand the renaming process.

***Correction: Mrs. DeGrazia, in her video, states the answer to #14b is 5 kg 450g. The correct answer is 5 kg 100 g. Also the true answer to #15 is 25 kg. Sorry for the confusion!
