Philadelphia Trip

Hello and Welcome to Rocio’s World. Today we’re going to talk about the Philadelphia trip.

We went to Philadelphia on November 9th. All of the fifth graders had to be at school by 5:45am. The buses left at 6. The buses were coach buses. Everyone was aloud to bring an electronic, if they wanted to. I brought my phone. You were also aloud to bring something else, to entertain yourself. I brought a little bag with landyard, a book, a phone charger,  and earbuds. I also brought snacks.

When I was on the bus didn’t sit next to anyone. I sat across from Nicole and Izzy. When I was on the bus I talked to them. I also watched Netflix. The bus ride there felt very long.

When we finally got there, we got dropped of at a museum. At the museum we saw 2 shows and also went to lots of exhibits. One of my favorite exhibits was one that had the representative from each colony. In this exhibit there was also a screen where you could “sign” your name on the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence (I don’t remember) Out of the 2 shows we watched, my favorite was like a play, about the bill of rights. I thought it was very interesting and cool. After we watched both shows and visited all of the exhibits, we had lunch. Continue reading

Edcamp Expirience #2

Hello and Welcome to Rocio’s World. Today we’re going to talk about the 5th grade’s second Parent Ed Camp

Today December 6th, 2018, We had our second parent Edcamp. I signed up for Baseball and Life Skills and Climate Change.

At Baseball and Life Skills the speaker’s name was Mr Lamberg. Mr Lamberg loved Baseball when he was a kid and still does. He told us about how he got to be a professional player. He told us how we can make goals for ourselves, and achieve goals. I learned that e that everything that’s hard for you, you have to make a game in your head to help you achieve it.

At climate change the speakers name was Mr Trinidade. Mr Trindade feels very strongly about climate change. Mr Trindade worked with a group, to create a solar panel that won the Nobel peace prize. During the talk we learned about climate change and how it’s affecting the environment. We also learned how we could help. We also learned what scientist do to study this situation.

Overall both of the talks were very interesting and I learned a lot. I’m very glad I got to go to both talks.

Edcamp Experience #1

Hello and Welcome To Rocio’s World. Today we’re going to talk about the 5th grades, Parent Ed camp.

Today Wednesday November 28th, 2018, The whole fifth grade had something called a “Parent Edcamp.” A Parent Edcamp is when someone in fifth grade, mom or dad come in to give a talk. The talk the parents give is about, something they are experts in, they work for, a hobby they enjoy.. After every talk we did an activity, related to the talk in some way.

The talk I signed up for first was Interior Design. The interior design talk was about the process that goes into being an interior designer and the process of designing a clients room. First the talker told us about how she started being an Interior Designer, Then she talked about what she needed to do to be able to start the buisness and get clients, Finally she talked about what goes into designing a room. As an activity we got to design our own rooms, the speaker had brought fabrics and wallpaper designs. The activity was probably my favorite part. It was really fun to be able to play with color and design.

The talk I signed up for after was Magazine Buisness. The Magazine buisness talk was about everything that goes into making a magazine and everyone that works on the magazine, to make it. The talker first explained how you could find a magazine with any topic you wanted, Then she explained how a sports magazine is made (Like Sports Illustrated), Then the talker explained how advertisements want to be in magazines that there product has something to do with the topic of the magazine. For example a Gatorade add wants to be in a sports magazine because its a sports drink, and people that like sports might be intrested. Finally the talker talked about what goes into a travel magazine. For the activity we brainstormed ideas if we were going to make a Heathcote magazine. The activity was really fun because we could imagine we were writing a magazine.

Overall My ”Parent Edcamp” experience was Awesome! I can’t wait to be able to do it again!
