Maglev Train Response #1

A maglev train is a train that floats on a magnetic track. There are magnets on the train and track. The train floats about 10 centimeters above the track. The train can float can  higher depending on how many magnets are on the track. For my group at first for the track our track only had one layer of repelling magnets so our train didn’t levitate. For our train we stacked disk magnets on the bottom of the train and the train levitated!

Today on the tracks we put two srtip magnets on the sides of our tracks and for our train we put disk magnets on each side to. With a few tweaks and a lot of tape our Maglev train worked. Now the moment of truth, with the power of one little tiny shove the train should float across the track and do what it’s supposed to do did it work?…  we had to do something but time was almost done and I had figured out the problem. It was that there was nothing that was attracting the train towards it.

I think my group is cool we’re working together and talking about our ideas. It is a fun activity to do with friends and other classmates to get to know each other. We are working everything out  and fidgeting with our magnets so it repels or attracts together. I really like my group.
