4th Grade Reflection

This year has made me very curious and excited about the new year. The projects we did were very fun and required a lot of cooperation and teamwork. This year we did learning from our differences and learning to look. Some of the projects we did were our passion projects, our toy theater, and our PSA project.

One of the read aloud’s we did was Tiger Rising, Blood on The River, and Book Scavenger. My favorite subject is art. The reason why my favorite subject is art is because I love to be creative and express my feelings through art. My favorite read aloud id Book Scavenger because it was a mystery and I love mystery’s. My favorite project is Toy Theater because it requires art work. 4th grade has been an amazing experience and I made new friends.

PSA Reflection

This year we did a PSA project and I really enjoyed it. PSA stands for Public Service Announcements. We were supposed to pick an ecosystem to do the PSA and I picked Oceans. Once we picked an ecosystem we researched our ecosystem. After, our research we made a script for our PSA. Before we started our Wevideo we made a storyboard. Once we finished our storyboard we started our Wevideo. The wevideo was fun and it was hard but before are final draft we had to do a couple of other drafts to get it perfect.

I had a fun time doing my Wevideo project and I want to help my ecosystem survive the pollution. The reason we did a PSA is because we want people to help our ecosystem to become a better place. I had so much fun doing this Wevideo and I hope people all over the world help my ecosystems.

Ocean 2018

This year we got to pick our own ecosystem to research on. Personally, I picked the ocean because I have been interested in ocean life since I was little. The ocean is unique because it is home to many different species.

Producers, consumers, and decomposers are all a part of the ocean. Some Producers are algae, coral, seaweed, and plankton. Some consumers are sharks, whales, dolphins, walruses, seals, octopie, orcas, manta rays, eels, and polyp. Finally, one decomposer is Bacterioplankton.

You can find an ocean all over the world. Oceans cover almost 71 percent of the Earth’s surface. Tiny plants and animals are called plankton. Plankton supports every food chain in the ocean and lives in places such as coral reefs. Coral reefs are actually made from hard skeletons of small animals called coral polyps.

Lima Beans Week 3

Overall

Lima beans are so fun to learn about. We’ve been doing observations with the lima beans. Did you know that seeds can grow without soil?  The seeds look different because of the color and the size. Before the seed was just a regular seed but now the embryo and the food storage is popping out, it’s like a little plant.

No Air

My groups no air is good. All of the three lima beans are bundled up together. Two of them slipped out of it’s seed coat. Most of them turned green.

Sunlight

My groups sunlight is great. One of the lima beans has a bunch of roots and their roots are so thin. When my group took it out of the bag it was halo.

No sunlight

The no sunlight is not the best. It turned brown because it rotted.

Week 3 Plant Unit

My controlled plant

Me and my group watering my controlled plant.

Seed Pods

Learning about the seed pods was an interesting experience. I learned that you have to pollinate a flower to have a seed pod and I also learned that seed pods need to be watered and put under a light to grow. My seed pod turned out to be very tall. There are about four pods in each square. I really enjoyed working with my group.

Pollination

Pollinating was fun to do with my group. I learned that insects could suck pollen grains in the flowers then switch to another flower to pollinate. I also learned that  honeybees do more pollination than any other insect, which includes ants, beetles, and butterflies.

Week 2 plant unit

By Isabella

My plant is the plant watered by orange juice instead of water. The controlled is very healthy and it’s green. I think it’s going to turn out more beautiful. There is a little yellow flower. The tallest plant is 9 inches. All of them have at least one bloomed flower.

My manipulated plant has not grown. The orange juice turned the soil brown. It smells bad. It doesn’t look very healthy. There’s no plant.

The no sunlight plant is not healthy, but it is growing a little bit. The stem is white because you need sunlight for the stem to turn green. Some people say that the sun is the only thing that could make the stem green, but I think it’s the light of the sun. The no sunlight has a really little yellow flower on the tip of the top.

I think the manipulated didn’t grow because of the sugar in the orange juice. I think the sugar of the orange juice rotted the seed before it grew, that’s why it smells so bad. I think the controlled grew because of the properties the water has to make the plants grow.

This unit has been a very good experience overall.

Week 1 Plant Unit

The experience of the plant unit was interesting. The controlled is pretty tall. The stem is green. Each of the plants have about three leaves. Each day the controlled grows about 4 inches. The controlled smells like oranges because of the orange juice.

In my opinion the manipulated smells like moldy cheese. The manipulated is not growing. There’s not even a little stem.

My moon unit reflection

In the moon unit I learned that the holes in the moon are from the asteroids that hit the moon. The first day of the moon unit the moon was shining so bright it was gorgeous. After that I kept looking at the moon. Then I started to notice the moon change. The moon changed by the size and the brightness. A few days later I learned about phases of the moon. Now you know about my  experience with the moon unit.
