Surprise Box

In class, we started our surprise boxes. First, I measured 6 pieces of wood that were all 4 inches long and 3 inches tall. Then I cut them out with a small saw. After I finished cutting the 6 pieces, I had to even the pieces out. I did this because a lot of the pieces weren’t the same length. I made them all the same length by stacking them up and then laying them down on a cutting board. I applied pressure onto the stack of wood with the palm of my hand and started cutting the ends of the wood.

After I finished doing that, all my pieces were about the same length. I noticed that the pieces were 3.9 inches instead of 4, so that means my box would have to be smaller. Then, I cut out 2 pieces of wood that are 3 inches long and 3 inches tall. I have to make the heights of those 2 pieces 2.5 inches, so I used a ruler to measure out 2.5 inches.
