Maglev Reflection Day 3

Today we were not so success full. We tried at least  new ideas. They all kind of failed. Our 1st idea was we could probably use 3 strip magnets. So we put the two strip magnets we already had on the sides and the 3rd one in the middle. We did the same thing for the train cart. And that didn’t work out to well. Our 2nd idea was maybe if we used strip magnets, circle magnets and ring magnets it would WORK! So then what we did was take the strip magnets place them on the sides of the track and after that we put the circle magnets on the track and they were about a centimeter apart. Then we put the ring magnets on top of the spaces that were empty. So we did the same thing for the cart. And that didn’t work… But at least our original idea worked!

Maglev Reflection Day 2

My group and I finally figured out how to build our maglev train!!! We figured out that the problem is we didn’t have to use the circle magnets or ring magnets. All we had to do was use the strip magnets. So we failed once but we had success the next time. The other reason we failed is because  the magnets on the cart and the track weren’t lined up with each other. So what were doing now is trying to upgrade .

Maglev Reflection Day 1

Our class has been working on maglev trains! Maglev trains are trains made out of magnets. The goal is to get the train to levitate above the tracks. My group and I decided that if we used 4 strip magnets,2 ring magnets, and 5 circle magnets it would work! So what we did is we designed the track first.

We taped 1 strip magnet on one side and the other strip magnet on the other. Then we took the 5 circle magnets and taped them down in the middle of the strip magnets. Finally it was time to design the train cart.

What we did was we taped 2  magnets on the sides  one magnet on one side the other on the other side. Then we took the ring magnets and taped them on the middle. Now it was time… for what you ask? to see if it levitates!
