Maglev Final Blog Post

Our first track was a bad fail because we put 3 disk magnets facing S going across the track and 2 strip magnets underneath it facing N so they would stick together and then repel from the vehicle and they were arranged in a row. Also our first vehicle failed too, for the vehicle we put 2 disk magnets facing S so it would repel from the vehicle and go across. The disk magnets were arranged in a row. All of that was a fail.

Our problem was that the vehicle stuck to the North because the vehicle faced S. So instead we put two strip magnets on the vehicle so the magnets would be stronger and levitate higher. Our other problem was that there was way to much tape so it stuck to the sides and put to much weigh on the vehicle and it could not levitate.  Also we couldn’t use the disk magnets because there was not enough to cover the track.

For our final design for the track we put 8 strip magnets there was 4 on each side of the track. For our vehicle we had 2 shorter strip magnets (maybe a quarter of a normal strip magnet) 1 on each side so it would levitate smoothly, and they would line up.

During the beginning I was a bit frustrated  because everyone else took the disk magnets and I thought that the disk magnets were the strongest magnets we could us, but I was wrong, it all turned out pretty good because we got it to levitate across. In the middle and end I was excited because I knew at one point I would get it and now i’m pretty confident.
