Spreadsheets

This week in our spreadsheets unit, I made a spreadsheet showing all of the life expectancies of different countries. I used the formula =C2/D2 to find divide two columns by each other. I learned by sorting the spreadsheets that Hong Kong has the longest living people on average. I think something else this method would be helpful for would be finding the number of homeless people each year so that we could help them.

Computer Technology – Week 5

For this week’s assignment, I did 2 tutorials on Tynker. One was a math tutorial, and the objective was to code a dice to roll and for the result to be random. The second one I did was an English tutorial, and I tried to code a game where you had to learn the difference between the words there, their, and they’re. It was super simple and there were only 3 steps to it. I had to make the man ask questions and give the correct response and answers. Coding is being used to understand something in a school subject area because it now gives us the ability to ask questions and have the correct answers given, with simple blocks such as the SAY, IF, SET, REPEAT, ASK, and ANSWER blocks.

Computer Tech Week 4 Project

This week we made a project where we had to make a little actor ask questions and have the person playing the Tynker answer them. I asked questions about subjects we are learning in Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and this class, Computer tech. The only other project that was actually there was Ryan H’s, so of course that was the one I saw. It was good because it had a good background, a good actor, and fun math questions. It was well made and fun to do.
