Refugee the book

Today in class we read a few chapters of Refugee by Alan Gratz. The first story was Joseph, he wanted to leave his country because of how the Nazi’s are treating the Jews as if they are nothing and are being treated as if they can do whatever they want with the Jews. The second story is about Isabel, and how she also isn’t being treated equally but for a different reason, it was because of dictators who tell people what to do and if they don’t do what the dictators say they go to prison.  Mahmoud wanted to leave because his house got bombed. They all want to leave for similar reasons, because people are treating them unfairly.

I think the author choose to go back and forth in time so the author can show how these issues have been going on for a while. He decided to do different perspectives because this way it shows how this has all been happening for different reasons.

  1. I like how you understand the reason for the different perspectives. I like how the author connects them to keep the readers interested and teaches us about the seriousness of the situation for each of the characters at the same time.
