NBA Happenings Podcast

This is my second podcast and this time I did my podcast with my friend Max. This podcast is about the NBA. Since this was my second podcast it wasn’t that hard because I already had the experience of making one. The subtopics in my podcast are the teams in playoff position and the players who should win the awards.

Panyee FC Essay

I wrote about kids that live in Thailand and want to form a soccer team.

A Legacy Begins In Koh Panyee

By Andrew

Youth soccer teams have soccer fields right? The boys in Panyee FC didn’t because they live on a floating village with not a lot of space. The boys watched soccer on T.V. but they had never played it. One day one of the boys decided they should start their own team. Their hard work lead them to becoming a real team.

The Pangha Cup helped the boys become a real team, because when they reached the competition they realized how well their skills had developed. The text states “our skills had developed nicely on the wooden pitch.” When the first game started, one of the players said “once we got going we realized we were better than we thought.” Another example is the boys practiced on small goals, because they built it, and it’s the only goal they could make. In the Pangha Cup, they realized the goals were bigger than theirs, and that made it easier for them, because their goals were smaller so their aim had to be better. One more example is that they took of their shoes during the semifinal game because it was raining cats and dogs and the boys were used to playing barefoot on a wet slippery surface.

The Pangha Cup helped the boys become a real team, because the villagers started a “fan club” without the boys knowing about it. For example in the beginning of the text one villager kept trying to bring the boys down by saying “Look around you. Look where you live.” He also said “you won’t become champions on that thing.” He later started supporting the kids because he realized how hard they worked. He also gave the boys uniforms that the whole village pitched in to get. Another example is they showed support for the boys and even went to the mainland to watch their games and cheer them on. In the video it showed the fans cheering them on when they were taking the boat to the mainland. At the end of the semifinal game one villager said “be proud of yourselves.”

The Pangha Cup helped the boys become a real team because they created a legacy of soccer in their village. For example in the text it says “soccer is the villages number one pastime” the village made a new, big and flat soccer pitch that the whole village can use and the original players taught the other villagers how to play soccer. Another example is in the text it says “they were the Southern Thailand’s Youth Champions in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Also, at the end of the video it shows the the original players when they are older and that they still played soccer.

The boys in Panyee FC taught me that you can do anything you want to do if you work hard. The boys also taught me to not let the doubters bring you down and stay determined.
