E-Learning Friday March 20th
Good morning! I hope you all liked yesterday’s read aloud as much as I enjoyed making the video. I’m really impressed with how you are all working in this new virtual classroom of ours. Your efforts are remarkable! Mr. Casal has made it possible for us to now connect live through Zoom! You must be logged into your google account and then have to create a zoom account. There’s a new doc in your social studies folder on Drive that contains the zoom session links. I’ve emailed your parents separately and attached a slide show with instructions for you here: Zoom with students (Google sign-in) tutorial. I’m excited to see you all later to check-in and catch up!
Read Aloud #2
I am excited to share another video read aloud with you today. Instead of embedding the video here, I’ve posted a link in your READING folder on Drive. The page is titled Video Lessons. Please get your notebook, a pencil and go to your reading folder now to watch the video. After you have watched the video, view the slideshow below to follow along with today’s reading lesson.
Today is Bring Your Pet to School Day! Take a video or a few photos of your pet and create a presentation to introduce him/her to the class. You can post this on your blog for all to see, visit, and learn about your pet. Tell us what makes him/her special to you and your family.
SOCIAL STUDIES– HOW DO WE LEARN ABOUT HISTORY?
In the upcoming weeks, we will be learning about history and culture. Today I want to learn your thoughts about the subject. In the E-Learning Slides (in your social studies folder on Drive), add a few pages in the Social Studies section to write your answers. The title can be, History. Put the date on the slide(s) as well.
How would you define history?
What does that mean if something is history?
Brainstorm how we learn about history. (Don’t forget about places you can go!) Make a list.
Books, the internet, etc…
Think about WHY we learn about history. Why is history important for us to learn about? Write as many reasons as you can think of.
BONUS: Create additional slides with any places you have been that have helped you learn about history. Feel free to include pictures from the internet or from your actual experience and writing telling us how that resource helped you learn about history.
Scholastic News Explore the current issue and read about Tani Adewumi – a boy with a remarkable story.
Handwriting: Below is a link to a presentation slideshow. Click on the link and you can print out the pages for practice on cursive handwriting. Remember, best posture and relax your hand grip!

And some fun activities for the weekend… I’ve left you a surprise in your social studies folder on Drive. Enjoy!
