ELA-BOOK CLUBS

he best part of being in a book club is that you get to talk with your classmates about the book you are reading. You get to laugh together about your favorite part, build on each other’s ideas and see different perspectives by respectfully disagreeing with one another. It is these conversations that help you grow as a reader and thinker. Watch the video to remind yourself of what a great book club conversation looks and sounds like both in the classroom and virtually.

Read the agreed upon book club amount for today, and then schedule a time with your group to meet virtually to talk about your text. Make sure you watch my lesson before having your group conversation.

Math- ixl Review

Today you are going to explore IXL. Watch the video tutorial below to learn OR be reminded of how to log onto your Scarsdale Schools IXL account. (Remember, if you have a private IXL account that is linked to your PERSONAL email, that is separate from your Scarsdale Account!)

Thursday, April 30th

Hi 3M! Today we will be meeting at 10:00.

Be ready to share a favorite poem for Poem in Your Pocket Day!  This can be a poem you wrote or one that you’ve read before. Just have it handy for our poetry share today.

Remember to plan out your schedule for the day with breaks.  Try to plan around a 9-3 school day, so you can finish your work early. Also, use the checklist at the end of our post to make sure you completed your assignments for the day. If you have any problems completing anything please leave me a comment on your E-learning slides or e-mail me. Lastly, it is VERY important you watch all videos that we post since these are our lessons.

Watch this video and learn how you can use a graduated cylinder to measure an unknown container’s capacity.

The experiment you observed in the videos above is detailed on workbook pages 41 and 42. If you would like to try to recreate this experiment, you can. Take a video of yourself and upload it to Seesaw. I would love to see your work! Good luck and have fun!

Please complete workbook pages 41-44.

science: Weather and Climate Part 3: 2 Day activity

In this lesson, Mystery Doug will take you on an adventure around the world to identify climate zones and weather patterns. Watch the introductory video carefully so you will know how to prepare for the awesome learning opportunity that Doug has for prepared for you.  Please use the slides Weather & Climate Part Three to guide you for your work today.

This is a two day activity, so you can finish it by the end of the day Friday.

  1. Watch Mrs. Boyer’s video- VERY IMPORTANT to do before you start
  2. Print out maps and gather materials for the activity during video- found in Weather & Climate Part Three Slides in your Science Folder
    • NOTE: In the video they show supplies for a group because it is made for a classroom activity, you will only need one of each of the maps to complete the activity. So since we aren’t in class, when Doug says get 2 maps you are only printing 1 map of each that we provided–follow Ms. Boyer’s directions.
    • Also, when he mentions check with a partner–this may mean zoom with a partner or check with a parent
  3. Watch Mystery Doug video: Climate, Geography and Global Weather Patterns
  4. Color in Climate Decoder. Color in the maps.  Doug walks you through this step by step.
  5. Answer questions in slides
